Today is the anniversary of George Harrison's death nine years ago in 2001, and we thought a commemorative music lesson was in order. And instead of the usual Beatles fare, we thought we'd show you something a little less known, but just as good— "Handle with Care" by the Traveling Wilburys. Many still aren't familiar with the Traveling Wilburys, despite the superstar musicians involved, but that doesn't change the fact that these guys were awesome!

George Harrison was the mastermind behind the formation of the Traveling Wilburys, which consisted of himself, Jeff Lynne (from ELO), Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and Jim Keltner.

"Handle with Care" was the first track conceived by the Traveling Wilburys, originally intended as a B-side to Harrison's "This is Love" single from Cloud Nine. Harrison's record company decided that the song was too good to be released as mere "filler" and then the Traveling Wilburys were born.

FACT: Harrison's pseudonym for the group was originally Nelson Wilbury, then Spike Wilbury for the second album.

"Handle with Care" is perhaps one of the most sincere songs ever written, perhaps unveiling George's sensitive nature, clearly encapsulated in the lyrics. But more importantly, it's a great play on an acoustic guitar. This three-part guitar lesson will teach you beginner guitarists the chords for "Handle with Care", with some great tips to help you master the song. Take your time and you'll be fine.
